Taste of Tlaquepaque: Dia de los Muertos

Join Springfield Sister Cities Association for Taste of Tlaquepaque, a festive celebration of Springfield’s 20-year sister city relationship with Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico.

This year, we honor the rich and colorful tradition of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, a time to remember and celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have passed away.

𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐒𝐀𝐍

You will be amazed by the stunning décor featuring authentic ofrenda displays and artwork by Tlaquepaque artist 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮 𝗥𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗼. Romero is a talented visual artist, and she is also the most recognized Catrina makeup artist in Jalisco. Catrinas are elegant and whimsical skeletons that symbolize Dia de los Muertos.

At 7pm, you’ll enjoy the lively music of 𝗚𝗿𝘂𝗽𝗼 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗮, a renowned musical group from Tlaquepaque. They’ll showcase the best traditional and popular music of Mexico and Latin America that is sure to get you up and dancing. Through their stories and songs, you’ll also learn more about the history and meaning of Dia de los Muertos.

Starting at $1,500, you and a guest can also attend the 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 on Thursday, October 12 from 5-7:30pm, where you will have a chance to meet and greet the artists and musicians in a more intimate setting. Includes eight pre-party entries and 8 reserved seats at the concert.
