The Springfield Art Museum invites you to Art In Bloom, our signature event celebrating fine art, flowers, and fashion. This festival invites floral and fashion designers to imaginatively interpret works of art on view in the Museum’s galleries and presents them alongside those works for your enjoyment. Art In Bloom includes juried prize categories for featured designers, People’s Choice Awards, workshops, local vendors, and family art-making activities. Join us for this one-of-a-kind event inspired by spring!

ART IN BLOOM FREE EVENTS

Fashion Design Public Viewing: Wednesday, April 24 – Friday, April 26, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Saturday, April 27, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Sunday, April 28, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Purchase People’s Choice Award votes in the Museum’s Lobby and cast your ballot all weekend long! $2 Per Ballot.

Family Art-making Fun: Wednesday, April 24 – Friday, April 26, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Saturday, April 27, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Sunday, April 28, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM.

Drop-in to the Weisel Gallery during our normal hours of operation to create your own floral and fashion-inspired artwork. These activities are self-guided.

Family Nature-making Fun: Wednesday, April 24, 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM.

Join us and our friends from the James River Basin Partnership on the Hatch Foundation Lawn in front of the amphitheater for making activities inspired by nature, including papermaking and wildflower seed balls.

*These projects can be messy and are not permitted in the Museum galleries, so please plan to store your projects in your vehicle before entering Art In Bloom!

ART IN BLOOM PAID EVENTS

Paint by Ink Watercolor Workshop: Wednesday, April 24, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Community Room.

This workshop, led by Kim Hardin, guides participants through painting their own watercolor botanical artwork inspired by spring. $50 workshop fee includes all materials. All skill levels welcome. Pre-registration is required. Ages 16+

Botanical Print & Flower Pounding Workshop: Thursday, April 25, 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Community Room/Outdoors (weather permitting).

This workshop, led by Cina Canada, teaches participants the art of botanical printmaking and flower pounding. Cina is the founder of Wild Arts Learning, an organization dedicated to connecting to nature through the arts. $50 workshop fee includes all materials. All skill levels welcome. Pre-registration is required. Ages 16+

Embroidery Pin/Brooch Workshop: Friday, April 26, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Community Room.

This workshop, led by Katherine Botts Whitaker, explores high-fashion embellishment techniques using simple embroidery stitches on tulle. Participants will create a fashion accessory in the form of a pin or a brooch inspired by the gorgeous flowers of Art in Bloom. Good for those with any previous embroidery or hand stitching experience. Advanced skills not necessary. $50 workshop fee includes all materials. Pre-registration is required. Ages 16+

Basket Weaving Workshop: Saturday, April 27, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Painting & Drawing Classroom. SOLD OUT!

This workshop, led by Barbara Vicente, teaches reed weaving technique to create your own basket inspired by spring. Barbara is a member of the Missouri Basket Weavers Guild and the Ozark Mountain Basket Weavers. $50 workshop fee includes all materials. All skill levels welcome. Pre-registration is required. Ages 16+

Floral Design Workshop: Sunday, April 28, 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM. Community Room.

This workshop, led by 2022 Art In Bloom Best in Show Award Winner Raleigh Jones from Wickman’s Garden Village, will instruct you how to create a stunning arrangement inspired by September Night by Bradi Barth currently on view in our Collection Focus: Bradi Barth exhibition. $50 workshop fee includes all materials. All skill levels welcome. Pre-registration is required. Ages 16+

The Heirloom Seed Library: Wednesday, April 24 – Friday, April 26, 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM; Saturday, April 27, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Sunday, April 28, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. The Springfield-Greene County Library District’s Heirloom Seed Library will be available during Art In Bloom in the Museum’s Lobby. Choose from a free variety of vegetable, herb, flower, and native heirloom seeds to plant at your home or in your community garden.

The Fiddly Fig Pop-Up Shop: Friday, April 26, 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Shop The Fiddly Fig‘s mobile house plant shop in the Museum’s parking lot.

Sunday Flower Company Pop-Up Shop: Saturday, April 27, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM & Sunday, April 28, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. Shop Sunday Flower Company‘s mobile flower shop for grab-and-go stems and bouquets in the Museum’s parking lot.
