SPRINGFIELD, MO – The Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is thrilled to announce that in recent weeks, support from Jon & Kathy Risdal, Three Stone Homes, the Darr Family Foundation, and other community supporters has propelled the campaign forward, adding over $1 million in gifts to the project. This generous support, combined with earlier donor support, means the capital campaign has crossed the $7 million mark, bringing the $8 million campaign goal within sight.
“This project has never been about just a new building. It is about making sure no child waits for help, and every child has the opportunity to heal. We are deeply humbled by the extraordinary community response and are profoundly grateful for the commitment that is turning this vision into reality,” said Katiina Dull, Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center.
Along with the fundraising success, the Child Advocacy Center is further advancing plans for its future home with a newly announced second property acquisition that will significantly enhance its ability to serve children and families in the community.
After months of planning a two-story, 10,000-square-foot addition to its recently acquired location, CAC leadership took advantage of an unexpected opportunity to purchase a neighboring building. Following careful consideration, the organization has moved forward with the acquisition, recognizing its potential to strengthen long-term impact.
“This opportunity allows us to expand our vision in ways that better support healing and growth for the children we serve. It reduces overall costs and allows us to create a dedicated mental health space with intentional, therapeutic green spaces for children and families,” said Dull.
While the original facility design addressed key needs, the revised plan will create a more welcoming and restorative environment—one that aligns even more closely with CAC’s mission to provide safety, advocacy, and healing.

The Child Advocacy Center exists because when kids are abused, the process to investigate can be really hard to navigate. The
CAC creates a safe place where kids can talk openly about what happened without causing more pain. The focus is on helping
kids begin to heal so they can get back to being kids.
The Child Advocacy Center serves 14 counties, working in close collaboration with children’s division, law enforcement, juvenile
officers, and prosecuting attorneys in each county. This multidisciplinary team approach helps reduce trauma for children,
strengthens coordination among agencies, and ensures families receive comprehensive support throughout the investigation
