Scouting for Food Drive benefiting the Ozarks Food Harvest

According to a press release from Scouting America Ozark Trails Council, Scouting recently celebrated its 115th anniversary, a milestone highlighting the incredible impact of more than 100 million Scouts dedicated to serving others and strengthening our communities. Now, Scouting has been continuing their legacy by participating in the 2025 Scouting for Food Drive.

The Scouting for Food is an annual community service effort supported directly by the Mid-America Council and partner organizations in our local community, benefiting families across the Ozark Trails Council service area.

Scouting America, formerly the Boy Scouts of America, is a youth program focused on character development and leadership training, offering a variety of activities and programs for young people, including Cub Scouting, Scouts BSA, and Venturing, with a mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices.

Part of the Scouts Oath is “to help other people at all times.”

The Scouts are asking the community to help others by participating in the Scouting for Food Drive. As the food drive is coming to a close, the last day to participate is Saturday, March 29th. From 8am to 2pm, the community is invited to drop off non-perishable food items to 1616 S. Eastgate at Sunshine and 65 next to Harter House. The community donations and the Ozark Trails Council will help the Scouts fulfill that oath with the Ozarks Food Harvest by Scouting for Food!

By participating in Scouting for Food, the community can mobilize and make a real difference for thousands of neighbors and families in need. Over the past 35 years, this initiative has provided over 232,000 meals to families in southwest Missouri. The donations collected will help stock the shelves of 270 hunger relief partners, including food pantries, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, and senior centers.

The Scouting for Food Drive is what Scouting is all about and what Scouts do—together, transforming hunger into hope.
