Callery Pear Buyback program – Missouri Department of Conservation

Missouri Department of Conservation is partnering with the Missouri Invasive Plant Council, Forest ReLeaf of Missouri, and Forrest Keeling Nursery to host a Callery Pear Tree Buyback event in communities around Missouri.

The 2025 Callery Pear Buyback program invites homeowners to cut down one or more Callery pear trees, and in exchange, receive one free, non-invasive tree.

Callery Pear is a small to medium-sized tree with a compact, symmetrical, pyramidal, or columnar shape that spreads to become oval with age. Many cultivars exist with slightly different characteristics; all contribute to the species’ invasiveness.
