Special Olympics Missouri State Outdoor Games coming to Springfield

The Springfield Sports Commission recently announced that Springfield, Missouri has been chosen to host the Special Olympics Missouri State Outdoor Games from 2025 through 2027.

The event will be held at multiple venues across Springfield, Missouri, in fall 2025 through 2027. The State Outdoor Games will feature competitions in five sports, flag football, bocce, golf, tennis, and softball, with more than 650 participating athletes, coaches and volunteers.

According to a news release, Stan Adams, Director of Sports Business Development for the Springfield Sports Commission, shared, “This is an incredible opportunity to showcase the remarkable talent, determination and spirit of these athletes while uniting our community in celebration of inclusion and sportsmanship. We look forward to creating a memorable experience for everyone involved and making this event a resounding success.”

Special Olympics is world’s largest sports organization, providing year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.
