Last year, Springfield Public Schools Board of Education released the 2024-2025 budget, announcing a reduction in revenue of approximately $30 million for the current and upcoming school year, stating that funding for critical needs aligned with the strategic plan is the priority.
The areas of operation that were reduced included federal stimulus funded, Robberson Elementary School, operational positions, administrative positions, elementary positions, Shine before and after school programming, mental health supports, general health supports, and system-wide purchased services and supply reduction.

Recently while preparing for the 2025-2026 budget, Springfield Public Schools announced their plan to implement the remainder of the reduction.
According to a news release, Springfield Public Schools will be reducing costs related to purchased services, supplies, maintenance, etc. and discontinuing or modifying employee salaries and benefits.
Springfield Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Grenita Latha, shared, “Long-term fiscal stability is a focus of our strategic plan and is key to the district’s ability to continue to provide quality learning opportunities for students.”
