Missouri State University recently announced they have accepted an invitation to join Conference USA as a full-league member, effective July 1st, 2025.
The change will officially place Missouri State University in the NCAA’s exclusive Division I Football Bowl Subdivision.
Missouri State University will become the 12th full-time member of Conference USA.

The followig universities are currently, or have recently accepted to be, a member of Conference USA.

- Jacksonville State University
- Liberty University
- Louisiana Tech University
- Middle Tennessee State University
- New Mexico State University
- Sam Houston State University
- University of Texas at El Paso
- Western Kentucky University
- Kennesaw State University
- University of Delaware
The Missouri State Bears will compete in Conference USA in the sports of football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, women’s soccer, women’s cross country, men’s and women’s golf, women’s tennis, women’s track and field, and beach volleyball.
According to a news release, more information will be available in the coming months regarding league affiliation opportunities for the sports of men’s soccer and swimming and diving, which are currently not part of Conference USA’s sport sponsorship profile.
With the move to Football Bowl Subdivision football, Missouri State University has also recently announced the addition of two new emerging women’s programs – STUNT, and acrobatics and tumbling, debut during the 2024-25 school year.
Misssouri State University has been a member of the Missouri Valley Conference since 1990, and will continue its membership in the Missouri Valley Conference for the 2024-25 season.
