UPDATE – ATTENTION Kia and Hyundai owners – FREE Steering Wheel Locks

According to a news release, the Springfield Police Department has seen a trend of vandalism and attempted thefts of vehicles in Springfield.

Vehicle theft has increased nationwide, specifially in Kia and Hyundai vehicles. In response to the increased theft, Kia and Hyundai are providing steering wheel locks for certain years and models of vehicles.

If your vehicle qualifies, you can get a free lock from the Springfield Police Department. The ONLY REQUIREMENT is presentation of proof of ownership. The Springfield Police Department is located at 321 East Chestnut Expressway in Springfield, Missouri. Locks will be available Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.
