A new park is now in Downtown Springfield!
The park is called a temporary pocket park. According to Blue Zones, a temporary pocket park is “primarily created in inner-city areas, and often a product of an area’s plans for urban regeneration, pocket parks provide a safe and welcoming place of temporary escape for locals who frequent them.”
The Downtown Springfield Community Improvement is bringing the temporary pocket park to Springfield. The temporary pocket park is located at the corner of South Avenue and McDaniel Street, in Downtown Springfield, Missouri.
The temporary pocket park features colorful and decorated concrete road barriers, public benches, and food trucks at select times (generally late evenings and weekends).
