The 2023 Birthplace of Route 66 Festival will take place THIS WEEK, Thursday, August 10th through Saturday, August 12th, in Downtown Springfield! This will be the 11th anniversary of the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival.
The annual Birthplace of the Route 66 Festival is known for it’s a car show, Gypsy Poker Run/bike show, Rockin’ The Route, live music, parade, Route 66 exhibits, etc. Additionally, this year, the festival is launching… the Great Route 66 Talent Search!!!
The Great Route 66 Talent Search is hosted by KY3 and the City of Springfield. The Great Route 66 Talent Search have seeked out performers, both amateur and professional, for their chance to win a virtual front-of-the-line audition to NBC’s America’s Got Talent! The Great Route 66 Talent Search will consist of 3 rounds including prelims, semifinals, and finals. Finals will be a live competition at the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival.
Another addition to the 2023 Birthplace of Route 66 Festival is the Kansas City Chiefs Champion Tour!!!
Springfield Mayor, Ken McClure, recently announced that the Kansas City Chiefs Champion Tour will join the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival on Friday, August 11th.
According to the Kansas City Chiefs website, “To provide fans the opportunity to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl LVII victory, the team has announced the Chiefs Champions Tour, a mobile brand experience that brings the Chiefs to communities around the club’s six-state “home” region. This marks the first time in franchise history that the Chiefs have hosted a tour that invites members of Chiefs Kingdom to celebrate one of the club’s Super Bowl victories.
The Champions Tour will include the club’s Super Bowl LVII Lombardi Trophy, appearances by the “Kingdom Cruiser” bus, appearances and performaces by Chiefs Cheerleaders, the Rumble drumline, KC Wolf, and more!
