Springfield Public Schools had added a new choice program called Fly SPS! Fly SPS is a program that will start in the 2023-2024 school year, that will give Springfield Public School students the opportunity to explore a career in the aviation field. This Springfield Public Schools program is in partnership with Ozarks Technical Community College and Premier Flight Center.

According to Springfield Public Schools website, “Fly SPS is a new program starting in August 2023 that will provide students instruction in aviation and the opportunity to earn their private pilot’s license while earning high school and college credit. Students will spend half the school day at Springfield-Branson National Airport engaged in aviation classroom work, simulator use, and flight hours. Upon successful completion of the two-year program, students can continue their associate degree in aviation, earn a commercial pilot’s license or pursue other careers in aviation. Potential aviation careers include commercial and airline pilots, co-pilots and flight engineers. “
