Martin Luther King Jr. Day Events Around The Ozarks

The 2023 NAACP MLK March and Program honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is Monday, January 16th! The 2023 theme is ‘The Strength to Love’.

The MLK March meeting location is Jordan Valley Ice Park where attendees can arrive as early as 7:30 am. with the march beginning promptly at 8:30 am where the attendees will march over to the Gillioz Theater where the program/celebration will take place afterwards. During this celebration there will be entertainment, music, readings and more to honor the life and work of Dr. King.

In the spirit of service, the Springfield NAACP is collecting hats, gloves, and hot hands, so please bring one or more of those items with you to donate to those in need in our community. This event is organized by Springfield’s NAACP and all are welcome to attend.

The 2023 Springfield Multicultural Festival is Monday, January 16th, at the Oasis Hotel & Convention Center from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The 26th Springfield Multicultural Festival is an annual performing arts and community resource expo designed to provide access to cultural enrichment through the visual and performing arts.

The festival features two main components, a performance stage featuring local performing artists & groups representing a variety of international and native cultures ANDa community resource expo with exhibitors sharing information about employment opportunities, health care access, financial and educational services and a variety of other business resources from nonprofit organizations to area craft makers.

This event is recognized as one of the region’s premier multicultural celebrations. The festival features ethnic foods, non-stop dance, and music originating from all over the world!
